EPD issued for IWS pipes

15.07.2025

IWS has taken an important step toward transparency and sustainability by having an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) issued for our HDPE spiral pipes.

The document is publicly available for download from the EPDHub database – view here

Why EPD?
Demand for environmental information is growing worldwide, especially in Europe. Customers and partners increasingly expect transparency and sustainability.

We have set a goal to keep pace with these expectations – all required standards and certifications will be met by our products. Therefore, we decided to prepare an EPD for IWS pipes, which are used both in our own end products (such as wastewater and stormwater pumping stations, tanks, wells, septic tanks, etc.) and in our partners’ engineering solutions in Estonia and export markets.

An EPD provides a reliable and standardized overview of a product’s environmental impact throughout its life cycle.
Our EPD has been prepared according to the European standard EN 15804+A2, ensuring comparability and transparency.

What did preparing the EPD bring us?
The greatest value of the EPD process was the detailed collection and analysis of production data. This gave us a comprehensive understanding of the environmental impact of our products and helped us to:

  • identify strengths and areas for improvement in production processes;
  • better understand resource usage;
  • provide customers and partners with transparent, verified, and comparable environmental information.

The EPD gives us a significant competitive advantage both in Estonia and internationally, especially in the Nordic countries where environmental criteria play an increasingly important role in procurement.

Cooperation and next steps
Our cooperation with the EPD partner was professional and smooth. Their expertise helped us understand the complex methodology and ensure the quality and reliability of the data.

Our next steps at IWS:

  • Further integrate the EPD into our sales and marketing activities;
  • Train our sales team to better communicate the value of the EPD to customers;
  • Conduct a deeper analysis of our production processes to find additional ways to improve resource efficiency;
  • Consider preparing EPDs for other products.

IWS pipe certifications and marks
Since 2019, our pipes have held the INSTA-CERT SBC EN 13476 certification, which grants the right to use the Nordic Poly Mark.
This is a significant advantage in the Scandinavian markets, where this certification and mark are required.

IWS continues to move confidently forward in sustainability, quality, and transparency.
